**May contain spoilers** A complete waste of time and money. Very predictable story line. The second half drags on forever. A smuggler grows in competency and plays cat and mouse with a straight forward cop. He has an admirable and dedicated work ethic - No "Dhandha" is below dignity. He then colludes with the stereotypical corrupt politician, one who pushes prohibition and at the same time profits from alcohol, who then back stabs him. And then our smuggler dude turns politician. He also does some random acts of colored kindness. Then for some reason gets into real estate. And then our honest smuggler gets caught in a conspiracy against the nation. On realizing this he then swiftly deals with the anti-nationals. And finally the movie ends with the only way the Indian state can deal with such misunderstood protagonist - which is to "encounter" him. Shahrukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar etc. should be ashamed of themselves to make such a dreary soulless movie. Mahira Khan's nose makes a distinctive entry, she may be a good fit to play Cleopatra. Sunny Leone provides the rare moment of joy as the movie plods along. Along the way the movie reinforces various stereotypes about the minority community, the way the state deals with them, the perceived sense of injustice. No solutions but only a litany of problems. The movie is full of flat two-dimensional characters, a lazy script with not even a whiff of fresh air. MY RATING |
